Ozone Generation

VPSA Oxygen as an Ozone Generator Feed Gas

Oxygen or air can be used as the feed gas to an ozone generator with distinct advantages. VPSA oxygen results in 2 to 3 times more ozone production from a given ozone generator. Compared to both air and liquid oxygen feed gas, VPSA oxygen product composition is beneficial to ozone generators. VPSA oxygen has a beneficial concentration of nitrogen and extremely low hydrocarbons in the product gas each of which help lower ozone generator maintenance, improve reliability and extend the ozone generator useful life. VPSA oxygen has a very low dewpoint – less than minus 85 F, minus 65 C – critical to ozone generator reliability and longevity. VPSA oxygen also allows higher ozone concentrations enabling higher efficiency and solubility in water applications. Oxygen fed ozone generation is most common in larger industrial scale applications. However if there is an alternative onsite oxygen demand, application for smaller ozone generators can achieve the ideal business case selection. For example, aquaculture fish farms typically have large oxygen demands and small ozone demands – therefore achieving economies of scale value to the small ozone requirement economics.

Ozone applications include:

  • Water Purification for Drinking
  • Aquaculture Fish Farms and Large Aquariums
  • Odor Control in Wastewater Treatment
  • Groundwater Remediation
  • Disinfection in Food Processing, Water and Gas
  • Air Purification for Gases from Industrial Processes
  • Pulp Bleaching
